I'm also thinking that it's both, but I'd be wary of saying only aro or only ace instead of "ace and aro" (or well, I prefer aspec too), because I feel it lead us to this situation we're in now. Ideally I'd love for everyone who feels the need for it to be able to use it, this issue is a separate one to me. The view that only aros can use it is very narrow-minded and it represents the worst face of aros. As for the history I genuinely think that most people don't know it because it's not easily accessible, but erasing it is always a bad practice
