One bit you missed, is that Meloukhia and s.e. smith are the same person. I also believe that Sciatrix played a key role in popularizing the term--which is quite significant, considering the large number of terms that get coined and disappear for lack of popularization.
From my perspective, again, I’m really glad that this is a useful concept for allosexual people, and I really like the idea of aromantic spaces broadening to include and welcome them. I think that’s very important, and I want those ideas and words to form a welcoming space for anyone who needs them.
I don't know which controversy this post is responding to, but I'm inferring that you've seen some people argue that, because of the history of QPR, allo-aros are not allowed to adopt the term. IMHO, this is an infuriating category error, born from a belief that borrowing ideas is always "appropriation", and therefore bad. As an activist, I would very much like to be able to coin words without creating flame wars in the distant future over whether people who don't share my specific set of identities are allowed to use it.
